This is a really good story with some interesting twists. Kai is a normal kid, well as normal as you can be when being hunted and in a world of demons and witches, who has to learn the truth about himself and about the role his parents played in the current apocalypse. He has to discover whether good or evil will right the wrong his parents did. He is a character that you connect with right away - you are running with him to escape those chasing him, feeling good about finding a group to hang out with, fear when the demons react so strongly to him, confusion about who he really is and what he is truly capable of, etc. All of the characters are well crafted, easy to get to know and believable. Some are easily confused by power and greed, even if momentarily. The story will definitely keep you reading.

I had put this book down for a month because of a crazy busy life and when I picked it back up I easily slid back into the story and where it was going. I didn't have to reread anything. That to me is a good sign of a very good story teller. Well done. I definitely recommend this book.

Bounty Hunter edition by S J Hollis Lawrence Mann Kathryn Ritcheske Children eBooks Reviews

I was very impressed by the way the book was laid out and hope for a second one about what happens to their bounty hunting adventures tho It also had a very snug end leaving possibilities endless!
I loved the book and the vast ness of the races!
I'm really not good at this. Actually I suck at it. It's why I never leave reviews of anything but I wanted to stop in and say how much I absolutely loved this story. It's far from my usual genre to read but I thoroughly enjoyed it from beginning to end and can't wait for the next installment.
I confess that my first approach to this book was quite reluctant, as I was afraid to read yet another predictable story about a special kid who was destined to save the world. I am so happy I did give it a chance, though. It is one of the best reading decisions I have made this year.
Bounty Hunter is not only fun to read but keeps you guessing the whole time. It is fast-paced but not rushed at all, for every main character is well-developed at their own time. Not one of their individual stories is left open, which is always appreciated. The universe the story takes place in is so refreshing, from the different technology they use to the fact that the story takes place not only on Earth but also in space, which gives it a whole new dimension that entices the reader trying to guess where the story will take them next.
The plot-twists are simply delightful. Just when you think you understand every bit of the universe presented, every species, every character, there is a change in the story that makes you re-think everything. Finally, when the big secret is revealed and you thought you had everything figured out, there is one final surprise. I absolutely loved it. This is one of those books that I'll need to buy in a physical format as soon as I can manage.
Bookworms of all ages will appreciate this action-packed story wholeheartedly. Fans of The Lightning Thief, and Harry Potter will enjoy this unique storyline with a dark undertone. It contains witches, magic, and a little, bitty thing that you may have heard of known as the apocalypse. Kai Koson, our hero, is a strong character who seems to develop at his own pace, just like any other 14 year old would. He's a fighter, with unwavering determination, and teens will find him to be a suitable role model. Wonderfully imaginative, with a little humor to soften the blow, Hollis' book will be embraced by many.
First, my disclaimer- I am usually a reader of epic fantasy & sci-fi. I was just not sure that I wanted to read a book whose plot revolved around a teen aged boy. I am so glad that I made the purchase.

I am avid reader. I have read the "greats" and the "not so greats." With this in mind, I thought I'd explain my 5-star rating. I used 's description for each star, and a combination of my thoughts about Bounty Hunter's prose, plot, character, and finally my interest level in turning each page.

So, if you have gotten this far, you have probably read the book description. Our young hero, Kai finds himself the center of a lot of unwanted attention. As he sets out on his journey, he battles with some issues that we all can relate to- trying to fit in, family issues, his place in the world, sacrifice, and the age old question of "right from wrong."

I was pleasantly surprised to be hooked from the very first page. Bounty Hunter follows an apocalypse. There is sadness and darkness. But there is friendship and humor, too. The pacing is just right. The pages just invite you to care for Kai. You cannot help but to relate to him. Characters are developed enough to give you some insight into what makes them tick. There is just enough to make you want to know more. (Hopefully, some back story on Cassius & Co.) One of my favorite characters is Galway. He is a complicated guy. I think you will like him too.

Bounty Hunter fortunately has both new and familiar elements. I loved that this book touches on those lines that are not clearly black nor white. Sometimes things are just not that simple. I eagerly look forward to Book 2. There are so many places this story can go both with plot and character.

I am happy to have found Bounty Hunter. You will be too. I will end as I began- this book is for YOU.
